a room of my own

I recently registered to be a vendor at the Annual Peterborough Folk Festival.  I haven’t been all that productive in the crafty department since Silas’s arrival nearly ten months ago, but I thought this show, which happens August 27th, may be just the thing I need to push me, ever so abruptly, back into crafty-dom.  Months ago, I promised I would be re-opening my Etsy shop, but between the move, and a lack of time and focus, it never happened.

So, first things first, I had to clear the room just off the kitchen which we had affectionately begun calling the ‘Room of Boxes’ and make it into something functional.  It is a small room, but it is well lit, looks out into the woods and it is all mine.  It is a work in progress, but it does feel good to claim it.

Now to begin creating.  I am feeling the need to streamline my products and presentation for this show.  Start fresh.  Clean out my market box and begin again.  Pick a few items and focus on those.  Think through the presentation and meaning and {minimal} packaging.  Concentrate on what I enjoy making and leave it at that. Yeah, enjoy the process.

I will keep you posted.

go gently + be wonderful

My parents live in Bethany (near Peterborough), so maybe we'll be visiting during the folk festival! Looks like a beautiful room…you need to come to design/decorate my house!

Oh!! You must live relatively close to me! My application to sell in a show was accepted last year, and after a few weeks I realised it just is NOT doable at this point in my life…it made crafting stressful, and I was tired of being frustrated with my kids for never leaving me a minute to do anything…so I gracefully bowed out. Someday. I love your little room! I've gathered so much stuff over the years, and feel overwhelmed at the thought of even trying to FIND anything with which to sew/craft…time to do a purge, and carve out a corner for myself, too…inspiring, as always.

ack! I just squiddled my pants in excitement at this great news!! I am so happy that you are taking/making the time to set your lil' creative fingers to work… time to save up my pennies again. VERY proud of you to pull your boots up and even attempt this after a big move.. and two liddles. I admit I was going to apply.. and then woosed out – so I'm envious to not be sitting at a booth next to you – and Des! Anywho.. eager to se you there.. happy crafting beauty mama! xo

What a great space. The light does look great, and having a view of your woods would be lovely. Enjoy getting back into creating.

Oh, I love seeing others' work spaces. Yours is so lovely and dreamy. And I have the same sewing machine. :) I am excited for you, and anxious to see what you create.
